The banker's son Fritz Freund first studied law before he definitely chose the painting profession. He attended art school in Munich (1881-1887) and settled in the Bavarian village of Miesbach in June 1919. In addition to sunny impressionistic landscapes, carefree representations of the folk and church festivals and the idyllic farm life of everyday life were created there. The artist's neighbours and fellow villagers served as models for this. As a true impressionist, Freud pays a lot of attention to the rendering of sunlight, both in summer and on winter days.
